About
Our Story
Dave and Jules Showalter and their family, Jordan, Sophia, Isaac, Lily, and Oliver, have been Bald Head Island property owners since 2000. They fell in love with the Island during their first visit in 2000 and immediately purchased a piece of property and built their first home. Their children have grown up on the Island, from being pushed around the Island in a jogging stroller to spending summers riding their bikes, playing in the surf, acquiring their first jobs, and making lifelong friendships. Bald Head Island has always been a magical place and very special to them. Jules’ said, “It is a dream come true to own a true Bald Head Island gem. We are thrilled! I love welcoming people back to the Island and seeing all my ‘friends’. It’s a privilege to be a part of the Island’s hospitality business and to continue a tradition of providing excellent food and beverages to Bald Head’s people.”
JULES’ is located on the waterfront when you enter the Bald Head Island Marina. Bald Head Island, historically Smith Island, is a village located on the east side of the Cape Fear River in Brunswick County, North Carolina, two miles from Southport. It is a small remote Island, accessible only by passenger ferry or private vessel, and is home to Old Baldy, the state’s oldest standing lighthouse, circa 1817. Bald Head Island is a subtropical island of 12,000 acres where you find 10,000 untouched acres of beach, marsh and maritime forest preserves.
The deck is pet friendly and a beer garden is in the planning stages to provide guests with a casual place to hang out and gather while playing corn hole or enjoying a beverage around the fire pit.
